OUR MISSION
The Family Counseling Center of Greater Washington (FCCGW) is a non-profit organization pursuing the goals to improve the overall mental health, bonding of family members, and the quality of life of those individuals and families that they belong to. We empower multicultural individual families within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area by providing evidence-based counseling services, various youth and parent education programs to promote awareness and preventive measures.
OUR SERVICES
MENTAL HEALTH
Our Mental Health Services Program serves all, yet attracts the majority of patients from among Fairfax County's Asian/Korean residents, particularly those who suffer from serious mental illnesses but cannot seek treatments because of financial difficulty, language barrier, stigma attached to mental illness, all of which lead to a lack of understanding of the importance of receiving treatments in early stages.
COUNSELING
Our Counseling Services program serves all, yet attracts the majority of clients from among Fairfax County's Asian/Korean residents. Bi-lingual (Korean and English) counseling staff are available to Fairfax County residents. The FCCGW provides professional counseling services and various youth and parent education programs that promote awareness and preventive measures.
PEER-TO-PEER
Since 2008, The Family Counseling Center of Greater Washington (FCCGW) has been providing the Peer-to-Peer Tutoring and Mentoring Program (P2P) to students in grades K-12 who are struggling academically and/or socially. This program, while open to all, targets a predominantly low-income immigrant or first-generation Asian student population.
SENIOR
The FCCGW has implemented the Outreach Program for Older Adults (OPOA), which has impacted 200 older adults every month at the centers and, 40 older adults who live alone and receive a visit.
